Dedicated to reimagining life with Down syndrome.
When I was pregnant with my daughter I heard wildly different things from parents of children with Down syndrome (DS) and from the public and medical professionals. Congratulations! You don't know how lucky you are, said the parents. None of them ever said I'm so sorry like some friends and strangers did. Later I found out that parents of children with DS often consider themselves #theluckyfew and understand that there is #nothingdownaboutit. I didn't know who to believe but my husband and I were committed to loving our child the best we knew how. It didn't take us long to realize that the parents knew what they were talking about. Our daughter was, and is, the brightest star in our sky. I started this non-profit to help others reimagine life with Down syndrome so that my daughter, and everyone living with DS, can have the best possible life.
Julia's Way is a 501c3 non-profit and all donations are tax deductible.
Our first project, a video entitled Why Be Normal, was aimed at parents whose babies had recently been diagnosed with Down syndrome to provide hope and inspiration. We've had over 25,000 views since it was released in March and positive feedback from new and expectant parents continues.
